The information you'll find here is as a result of research completed into nutrition and health issues and is one of the topics I feel most passionate about.
Because much of the information within this site quotes, links to and refers to research and articles completed within the field of weight loss, many people mistake this site as advice from a medical practitioner or dietitian.
I am not a qualified dietitian, nutritionist or medical practitioner. I am a student and a writer keenly interested in, not just weight loss, but nutrition as a whole. So if you have a question for me, feel free to fire away, please do however, read through our guidelines on our contact page before sending us an email.
My Own Story
My own weight loss story started in 1999 when I first fell pregnant. I ate like there was no tomorrow. Pretty soon, I put on a few kilo's and I was shocked to find out after the birth, that the extra weight was not baby, or amniotic fluid, it was ALL me.
After a couple of years, I kept putting weight on, and pretty soon, even my big clothes didn't fit. It was at this time that I decided it was time to take stock and take a good look at my lifestyle and start being responsible for my own eating and exercise. I was not really big, but big enough to know that I needed to do something about it.
After about 12 weeks, I lost 10 kg and have maintained my ideal weight of 61 - 63 kg ever since.
What This Website Is About
This website is however, not about me. It's about you. It's about finding real world solutions to your problems. It's about the research and the food that is still very much a puzzle with missing pieces with respect to weight loss and health.
Savvy Fat Burning Food is about giving hope to those who have just about given up, its about educating those who want to be educated and its about giving something back. Weight loss and food is my passion, I hope that in some small way, you benefit from my thoughts about the research.

Knowledge is power and so one of the main goals of this website is to facilitate understanding of our bodies, of food and it's effects and the research concerning food and weight loss.
At all costs, Savvy Fat Burning Food aims to provide a well-rounded un-biased view of supplements and foods when weight loss is concerned. At times, this has meant that I have had to put aside my own personal biases.
When I talk about research, I aim to provide full details of the research where-ever possible, instead of just presenting the results with no explanation.
