You Are About To Learn That Cookie Cutter Low Carb Diets Need Tailoring

Low carb diets have been pretty popular fat burning food lately, if you're a devotee of the high protein philosophy, there is another view-point you may want to consider.

There are many viewpoints about high protein diets, some say that it is the only way to lose weight, some say that it is not realistic and cannot be maintained. The medical community still have not made up their minds, so why should we be any different.

We do know however, that no pre-set diet is going to fit absolutely everyone. That is why even the best diet needs to be tailored to your own needs.

Put Your Low Carb Diet Into Perspective

One of the reasons these diets have become popular, is because it's probably true that most people in the developed world do eat too much carbohydrates. Particularly with larger restaurant meals and up sized take away meals, it is easy to over-eat. Many people over-eat carbohydrates due to their inability to identify the correct size of one portion.

On the other hand under-eating carbohydrates is like starving your body of the fuel that it needs to function. Eating low carb diets or no carb diets - means that in the absence of carbohydrates, the body will then start to break down muscle protein to serve its vital organs. It is difficult to know exactly how to view low carbohydrate diets in the long term.

So what to do, we're in a position of feeling too guilty to eat a high carb diet and too afraid to eat a low carb diet.

The Answer Is .......

The answer is eating according to what your body needs - not a cookie cutter diet such as the popular low carb diets. For example, I weigh 106.6 pounds, so my body will need about 6 serves of grains and protein and about 2.5 serves of fruit in order for it to function optimally.

To find out how many servings of carbs YOU should be eating, it is best to consult your dietitian, or fitness nutritionist.

So try consuming the right amount of carb servings and you might find that you are inadvertently eating a low carb diet, as determined by the nutritional needs of your body.
