Metabolism Boosters ... What's Wrong With Them ?
Metabolism Boosters work on a number of different pharmacological mechanisms within the body. Some types try to increase the level of human growth hormone (hGH) in your body to stimulate thyroid and pituitary glands. Some are herbal stimulants such as ephedrine, guarana and caffeine.
The Unfulfilled Promises
At least some of these supplements are to put it mildly dangerous and are marketed in such a way as to take advantage of its consumer by promising fast and easy weight loss.
The use of human growth hormone has been researched, and there are a number of studies to support these products, however, the use of hGH pills and sprays to increase metabolism and lose weight are ineffective in increasing levels of HGH in the body.
The only effective way is through injection and apparently must be done twice daily at a cost of up to $20,000 a year. Not very cost effective.
As for the herbal stimulants such as ephedrine, guarana and caffeine, these stimulants in extreme cases can cause heart problems, stroke, in rare cases death. The most common side effect is addiction and sometimes the addiction is so prominent that the person addicted will not be able to function, stay awake without their regular hit of that guarana and caffeine loaded drink.
Not much fun, and not very healthy ….. to say the least.
However, the theories that these products are based upon are essentially still solid. There are natural and safer ways of increasing levels of HGH in your body at a cost just a tad smaller than $20,000 per year.
