You've found the right guy, you've set a date, and now you're interested in a pre wedding diet. You want everything to be perfect and naturally you want to look good.
We all do, and we've all had the feeling that something MIGHT go wrong and this is where pre-wedding diet dramas sometimes appear.
For many women and men too, body image and weight gain is becoming increasingly more of a concern during their adult lives and directly before a wedding is a common point at which this concern can become particularly strong.
87% of women and 59% men surveyed in the UK within two general practices in 2002, reported that they had at some point tried to lose weight. Of these respondents, 58% of the women and 47% of the men said that they were successful in losing weight, many times reporting pre wedding diets with the motivation of an upcoming wedding or special event.(1) So, if your wedding is getting closer and closer and you are dieting or are thinking of a pre wedding diet, you're not alone.
A pre-wedding diet can be a good thing, in that the wedding can give you the motivation to put in the effort required to maintain healthy eating and exercise habits. However, after the wedding is when these good habits often go astray. So the tips I'm offering below are not just for before the wedding (after-all the wedding is one day, you've got the rest of your life to spend with your loved one), they are habits that need to be integrated into your everyday lifestyle.
Pre Wedding Diet Tip No. 1:
Eat meals regularly for an optimum pre wedding diet: studies have shown that when healthy lean women ate irregularly, their bodies burnt less calories which in some circumstances could lead to weight gain in the long term.(2)
Pre Wedding Diet Tip No. 2:
Look on the labels when you're grocery shopping or before buying fast food: recent research suggests that individuals who eat more total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol are less likely to look on the food labels. (3) It's such a simple thing, but it could mean the difference between losing and gaining weight. Just recently, I commented that a certain breakfast cereal was too high in salt to my mother, when I read her the label, she promptly agreed and decided not to eat it again. It's simple but can change your eating habits. If you're considering a pre wedding diet, this is definitely one of those small things you need to be thinking about.
