Sugar Busters Diet

Sugar busters diet as a fat burning food diet is essentially a diet where sugar is avoided, but it is also a low carb, high protein diet where white rice, potato and corn are taboo, because of their effect on the body's blood sugar levels once the carbs have been processed into glucose.

The diet was initially developed by three Louisiana doctors (heart surgeon, endocrinologist and a gastroenterologist) as well as Businessman, Leighton Steward, who claimed that if you avoid certain carbohydrates that you could lose weight easily - even eat more calories than you did already.

It is interesting to note that they specify the carbs to be avoided are those that are easily broken down by the digestive process, these carbs having high glycemic index values. Those that have low glycemic index keep the blood sugar levels stable. So it's eating the wrong carbs that the Sugar Busters Diet doctors are warning against.

The authors also advocate eating lavish meats, full fat dairy products and unsaturated fats in appropriate portions.

While the Sugar Busters Diet advocates eating the right carbs, on the other side of the coin, they also advocating eating high amounts of protein. Unfortunately, the effects of this on a long term basis, is risk of kidney disease.

As for most of the low carb diets, while advocating some good eating habits, falls down in the fact that it cuts out foods that nutritionally your body needs.
