Stationary indoor cycles which depending on their design can be used to test cardio-pulmonary stress. These indoor exercise tools commonly measure the distance cycled calculated by the number of revolutions of the wheel.
A control group is traditionally used in research to test the effectiveness of a treatment. Usually a control group and a treatment group are created by the researchers with subjects that are similar in their attributes. For example, both the control groups and the treatment groups will be made up of all women who are suffering from diabetes. The researchers will then administer the treatment to the treatment groups and either no treatment at all, or a placebo to the control group.
Researchers can then compare the results obtained from the treatment group to those obtained from the control group to assess the actual effects of the treatment.
